No girl should ever have to trade her safety for an education. Today, the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Liberia Chapter joins key government institutions and international partners to celebrate the official launch of the Gender-Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS)!
Gender-based violence and School-Related Gender-Based Violence (SRGBV) remain major barriers to girls’ enrollment, retention, and completion of school. By establishing a standardized, safe, and survivor-centered data system, we are taking a massive step toward protecting our students and holding perpetrators accountable.
How GBVIMS advances FAWE’s mission:
It helps us create safer schools by pinpointing safety risks in and around schools so girls can learn without fear.
Support Evidence-Based Advocacy by providing and accessing hard data to advocate for stronger laws and gender-responsive education sector plans.
Support Safe Referral Pathways by connecting survivors directly to healthcare, psychosocial support, legal aid, and re-entry into education.
A deep appreciation to our key government leads and international development partners for making this critical milestone possible:
1. Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection,
2. Ministry of Education,
3. UNFPA | UNICEF,
4. European Union (EU),
5. Spotlight Initiative, among others
Together, we are using data for dignity and action to build a violence-free future for every African girl!
Safe girls, strong futures.
