FAWE Liberia Chapter convened its Board Meeting on August 27, 2026, bringing together Board members and the Executive Director to review institutional progress, program implementation, financial performance, and priorities for the period ahead.
Strengthening Our Team and Institutional Systems
A major highlight of the meeting was the update on the organization’s staffing and institutional development. Ten new staff members have been recruited across key programmatic, administrative, financial, safeguarding, communications, IT, and field positions.
The organization also successfully conducted an onboarding program from August 17–21, 2026, focused on staff induction, capacity building, and strategic planning.
Significant progress is also being made in strengthening FAWE’s Liberia Chapter systems and accountability through the development and review of key policies, including the Delegation of Authority, Board Charter, Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, Anti-Harassment Policy, Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Policy, Code of Conduct, Grievance Policy, Financial and Human Resource Manuals, Procurement and Stores Management Policy, Whistleblowing Policy, and Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan, among others.
Advancing the FAWE–Mastercard Foundation Phase II Program
The Board was also updated on progress under the FAWE–Mastercard Foundation Phase II Program, including the joint monitoring meeting held with FAWE Regional Secretariat–Mastercard Foundation representatives on July 10, 2026.
The organization has launched the Call for Bursary Applications for Cohort I, targeting 650 beneficiaries (400 Technical and Vocational Educational Training (TVET) beneficiaries and 250 university/bridging beneficiaries). Training and induction of selection committees for the Bridging and TVET components have also been undertaken.
The program is being implemented in partnership with selected universities (Stella Maris Polytechnic University, Cuttington University, Lutheran University of Liberia, Grand Bassa University, Nimba University, and Tubman University) and TVET institutions (Monrovia Vocational Training Institute – MVTC – Booker Washington Institute – BWI – Zwedru Multilateral High School, Sinoe Multilateral High School, Voinjama Multilateral High School, and David A. Starz – Sinje Technical and Vocational College – University of Liberia) across Liberia, expanding opportunities for young people to access higher education and skills development.
Financial Performance and Accountability
The Board reviewed the organization’s financial performance for the quarter, including budget utilization, cash flow, fund utilization, and major expenditure categories.
The total quarterly budget stood at US$345,232.81, with US$103,090.40 recorded in expenditure during the reporting period.
With program funding coming in three months into the implementation calendar, affected the timing of program implementation and expenditure, the meeting reaffirmed the FAWE’s Liberia commitment to responsible financial management, transparency, accountability, and effective utilization of resources to achieve program objectives.

As we continue to strengthen our institutional capacity and expand program implementation, the Board emphasized the importance of effective coordination, accountability, strategic leadership, and timely implementation.
