The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Liberia Chapter had the honor of hosting representatives of both FAWE RS and Mastercard Foundation on a joint FAWE RS-Mastercard Foundation Monitoring Mission from June 25-29, 2026.

FAWE RS was led by Teresa Omondi Adeitan, Deputy Executive Director and Head of Programs for FAWE Africa and Mastercard Foundation was physically represented by Hon. George Werner, former Minister of Education, Republic of Liberia. The courtesy visits was led by Atty. Evelyn Barry, National Board Chairperson of FAWE Liberia.

The joint-monitoring mission focused on accessing the readiness of FAWE Liberia in the implementation of the FAWE-Mastercard Foundation Phase II Program. The Phase II Program focuses on supporting marginalized young women and men from economically challenged backgrounds between the ages of 15-25 years who have completed secondary education to transit into tertiary education with focus on TVET, STEM, and Bridging and to acquire dignified and fulfilling jobs.

The joint-monitoring mission was involved with the following:

  1. Meeting with FAWE Liberia staff
  2. Review of relevant documents, specifically focusing on policies and signing of MoUs with partner ministries/institutions
  3. Courtesy Visits (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Booker Washington Institute (BWI), and Cuttington University)
  4. Support to FAWE Liberia recruitment process

FAWE Liberia extends heartfelt appreciation to the Ministry of Education family, led by Hon. Atty. Yekeh Y. Forkpa, Deputy Minister for Administration, the Ministry of Youth and Sports family, led by Hon. Laramaand Nyonton, Deputy Minister for TVET, the Booker Washington Institution, led by Principal Dr. Nancy T. Williams and the Cuttington University family, led by Dr. Charles Amanze Idioha, Vice President for Academic Affairs for hosting our delegation during the courtesy visits.
