MONROVIA – On September 22, 2026, the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Liberia Chapter convened a Media Orientation and Engagement Session on Accurate Reporting of FAWE Liberia Program to strengthen collaboration with media partners and promote accurate, responsible, and ethical reporting of its programs and activities.
The engagement, which took place at FAWE Liberia office brought together FAWE Liberia staff and representatives from the media to discuss the importance of accurate program information, effective communication, participant protection, and stronger collaboration between FAWE Liberia and the media.
Strengthening Accuracy in Programme Reporting
A key focus of the engagement was the need for accurate and consistent reporting of FAWE Liberia’s programs. Participants discussed the importance of using appropriate program terminology, verifying facts and figures, accurately identifying program participants and stakeholders, and providing sufficient context when reporting on FAWE Liberia activities.
The engagement emphasized that effective media engagement is a shared responsibility. While FAWE Liberia has a responsibility to provide timely, accurate, and accessible information, media partners also play an important role in verifying information before publication or broadcast.
Protecting the Dignity of Program Participants
The engagement also highlighted the importance of protecting the privacy, safety, and dignity of individuals participating in FAWE Liberia program.
Participants discussed responsible approaches to interviews, photography, storytelling, and the use of personal information, particularly when sharing stories involving young people and other potentially vulnerable participants.
FAWE Liberia emphasized the importance of ensuring that program participants are represented respectfully and that their stories are communicated in ways that uphold their dignity and privacy.
Strengthening the FAWE Liberia–Media Partnership
The engagement provided an opportunity for media representatives to share their experiences and challenges in accessing and verifying program information. The discussion helped identify practical ways FAWE Liberia can strengthen its communication with media partners, including providing timely program information, facilitating access to relevant staff and spokespersons, and establishing clear channels for factual clarification.
Media institutions engaged are: Smart News Liberia – Online, Liberia Broadcasting System/ELBC Radio, ECOWAS Radio, Okay Radio, Prime Radio, Kool Radio, Truth Radio, Global News Network Liberia – Online, Women Television – Online, Liberia National Television, Voice of Liberia Radio, Sky Radio, Women Voices Newspaper, Daily Observer Newspaper, Inquirer Newspaper, The Liberia Investigator Newspaper, New Dawn Newspaper, Parrot Newspaper, KMTV Liberia, and Analyst Newspaper.
FAWE Liberia also reaffirmed that its engagement with the media is intended to facilitate access to accurate information and strengthen collaboration while respecting the editorial independence and professional responsibilities of media institutions.
