FAWE Liberia Conducts Institutional Capacity Assessment for Mastercard Foundation’s Second Chance Pathways Initiative
Under the leadership of the Knowledge Management Officer at FAWE Liberia, a comprehensive institutional capacity assessment was undertaken to support the implementation of the Mastercard Foundation’s Second Chance Pathways program. This initiative is designed to empower marginalized young women and men in Liberia by providing access to quality education and skills training for sustainable livelihoods
Monitoring Visit
The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Regional Secretariat (RS) paid a monitoring visit to FAWE Liberia from January 20-25, 2024.
The Delegation was led by Teresa Omondi, Deputy Executive Director/Head of Programs of FAWE Africa. The Team also comprised of both the Senior Program Officer and Senior Finance Officer respectively.
The monitoring visit was interspersed with several activities which included but not limited to the following:
1. Accessing the State of Affairs of FAWE Liberia; considering progress, recognizing gaps, establishing the prospects and positioning the chapter for full implementation of the MASTERCARD FOUNDATION/PHASE II Program.
2. Creating public awareness of FAWE Liberia Chapter, with specific focus on the implementation of the MASTERCARD FOUNDATION/PHASE II Program through radio appearance.
3. Visitations to partners ministries; Education and Youth and Sports respectively and one of the institutions for the Program’s implementation (Stella Maris Polytechnic University).
4. Meeting with partners; both UNIDO and CHEMONICS Representatives.
5. FAWE Liberia celebrated the International Day of Education in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Development Organizations and educational stakeholders.

International Day of Education
On January 24, FAWE Liberia in partnership with the Ministries of Education and Youth and Sports celebrated the International Day of Education.
The Program was held at the Monrovia Vocational Training Center (MVTC).
The Program focused on the International THEME: “AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency In a World of Automation “ and brought together educational stakeholders.
The Program was graced by the following personalities:

3. Hon. Collins Tamba, Assistant Minister for/TVET, Ministry of Youth and Sports
